The annual Field Day is a training opportunity for volunteers and Brigades to pit their skills and abilities against each other in a friendly competition. 2016 is the 30th year the VBA has been delivering this important training event.
For a number of years the Field Day has been organised by Mr Dave Wassall. This year Dave has decided to retire from the role and hand over the reins. We thank Dave for his tireless work over the years, a volunteer for volunteers.
Field Day Nominations
The Volunteer Brigades Association will again be running this year’s VBA Field Day in conjunction with the RFS Open Day on Sunday 23rd October. The Field Day provides an opportunity for RFS volunteers to showcase their skills to the Canberra community and to compete in a friendly way against other brigades from the Canberra region.
Nominations for teams are now open. Please send all nominations to
VBAfieldday2016@gmail.com and include:
Team member’s names
Only 15 places are available to compete in this year’s competition. Nominations will be accepted based on brigade1 and order of nomination submission. If your brigade is interested in entering a team, start practicing your core skills. Events suit all skill levels and are a great way of polishing up your skills in preparation for the upcoming fire season.
A participant guide outlining this year’s event will be distributed to successful teams closer to the event.
If you are interested in being part of the event but cannot get a team together, why not help out the organising committee run the event on the day. If you’re interested please contact the email VBAfieldday2016@gmail.com.
